Recently, SFU Hockey made headlines by announcing the addition of the "Non-Conference" team under the program umbrella alongside the BCIHL team, aimed at competing against top NCAA Division 1 and USports opponents in a full season exhibition schedule. Coached by Mark Coletta, the Non-Conference has a packed schedule this year with opponents such as UBC, Boston University, Princeton University, Colorado College, Long Island University and University of Alaska.

The SFU BCIHL team has also taken a big step forward going into this season with the addition of Head Coach Guido Lamberti-Charles, a strong list of recruits and upcoming games against TWU, University of Oregon, UVIC and VIU. The BCIHL team will compete for their sixth provincial championship this spring.

Underscoring this schedule is the fact that as a club we are independently funded through the support of many proud individuals and corporate partners. The commitment of our supporters has enabled us to demonstrate our ability to compete at the highest level.

We are now seeking support to make hockey a permanent fixture at SFU and to give our team an opportunity not only to showcase our talent, but to compete for a national championship.

The Simon Fraser Hockey Alumni Society was established in 2025 as a volunteer-run operating and fundraising committee behind SFU Hockey.
