For the second year in a row, the SFU Red Leafs Non-Conference team hosts rival Maryville University Saints (ACHA D1, St. Louis MO) for a pair of highly anticipated showcase December games. Last year's series saw two Red Leafs wins, 6-4 and 5-4.

On Friday, the offical SFU Teddy Bear Toss returns. Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal from home, and on the first SFU goal, fans will throw their bears on to the ice! All bears are donated to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, in support of a family in need this holiday season. The game will also raise awareness and funds for our charitable partner, Inclusion BC.

On Saturday, one lucky fan will Shoot to Win a FREE 2026 Nissan Kicks, care of Rides with Gavin. Click here to register for the draw to be the contestant. Once you have entered the draw, you must be in attendance on December 6th to be chosen! The game will also raise awareness and funds for our charitable partner, Coast Mental Health.

Through 12 games, SFU holds a 3-7-2 record, including wins against UBC (USports), VIU (BCIHL) and University of Alaska Fairbanks (NCAA D1, read the recap) and overtime losses against UBC and Ferris State University (NCAA D1). The schedule thus far has featured games against 8 NCAA D1 opponents, 2 USports and 1 BCIHL opponent. Over the last 5 games, every game has been decided by two goals or fewer.

Former Humboldt Bronco (SJHL) Lucas Ceccarelli and former Merritt Centennial (BCHL) Walker Erickson lead SFU with 7 points apiece. Netminder and former Winnipeg Ice (WHL) Jesse Makaj has earned 8 starts and holds a 3.41 GAA and .904 SV%.
