PLYMOUTH, MI – Two close games go the other way as SFU loses to Ferris State and Lake State 3-2 in each.

The Red Leafs had one of their better showings against the Ferris State University Bulldogs on Friday, taking an early 1-0 lead off the stick of Walker Erickson (1-1–2), and a second lead from captain Lucas Ceccarelli (1-1–2) in the second. Goaltender Jesse Makaj (32 saves, 0.912 sv%) had the start and held SFU in after an onslaught from the Bulldogs, but a defensive collapse at the end of the third and through overtime would give Ferris State the 3-2 edge over SFU.

SFU would again get the early lead on Saturday against the Lakers with a goal from Lucas Ceccarelli (1-0–1) halfway through the second, but two quick shots would give Lake State the 2-1 lead headed to the third. Despite a 10 shot third period, the Lakers would put it away in the last minute with an empty net goal.

SFU heads back to the East Coast next weekend to face Princeton and Long Island University.
