Proudly Sponsored By

Following the departure of the Non-Conference team, SFU Hockey has re-focused on the BCIHL ahead of the 2026/27 season with a series of re-signings and commitments to establish the leadership group moving forward.

Head Coach Guido Lamberti-Charles will return to lead the SFU Red Leafs going into the BCIHL season, his second year with the team. Prior to joining SFU, Lamberti-Charles coached with the BCHL's Langley Rivermen, ACHA's Iowa State, and held a number of professional coaching roles throughout Germany, Belgium and Italy.

Joining Lamberti-Charles are Max Lightfoot and Ryan Yeung, returning assistant coaches from 2025/26. Lightfoot, a former Red Leafs forward enters his second year coaching, while Yeung, also in his second year, brings a wealth of operational experience working alongside Lamberti-Charles.

Joining the Red Leafs coaching staff is Mischa Polzin, who brings years of coaching experience from the BCHL and PJHL, as well as player development and scouting roles through the PJHL and Kinetic Hockey Development. Polzin served as Hockey Director for both Coquitlam and Vancouver Minor Hockey associations, and was a member of the historic RBC Cup winning 2006 Burnaby Express that included Kyle Turris, Keith Seabrook, former Red Leafs coach Mark Soares, Brad Hunt and Carlo Finucci.

Captain Jaden Fodchuk will return for 2026/27 and look to bring SFU it's sixth provincial championship banner. Fodchuk enters his third season with the Red Leafs after a successful BCHL career with the Cranbrook Bucks.

The Red Leafs have signed recruit Jackson Jesson, a defenceman who played the last two seasons with the PJHL's Surrey Knights. Jackson, a Cloverdale native who stands 6'4", is a blue-collar defenceman known for his physical play and puck moving ability.

Additional recruits will be announced over the offseason as SFU gears up for it's 20th BCIHL season.
