RECAP | SFU 2, LIU 3
EAST MEADOW, NY – SFU trades back-and-forth goals but fall short against LIU.
After a scoreless first period that saw goaltender Gabe Gratton (29 svs., .906 sv%) stop 14 shots, the second saw the Red Leafs take a 5-minute major followed by another penalty, giving the Sharks a full 2-minute 5-on-3 opportunity. While the Red Leafs would kill off the 2-man advantage, LIU would break through on the remaining major to take a 1-0 lead. SFU wouldn’t wait long to even the score, with Walker Erickson (1-0–1) tipping a shot off the draw from Austin Fraser (0-1–1) just 3 minutes later, and Tyler Chan (1-0–1) would give the Red Leafs the lead on a one-timer just a minute and a half after that. LIU would get one back to end the second period tied at 2. The third would go back and forth, but LIU would break through again in the final 5 minutes to take the 3-2 lead.
SFU will have the halloween weekend off before heading north to face the University of Alaska–Fairbanks on November 8th.
