GAMEDAY | Red Leafs wrap up weekend against VIU
BURNABY, BC – After a late finish on Thursday night, SFU wraps up the weekend action at home against the VIU Mariners.
SFU returns to Bill Copeland after an off-site home matchup against their rival Trinity Western University Spartans. Despite a three point night from forward Greye Rampton, the Red Leafs would fall to TWU by a score of 4-3.
VIU will be playing their first game off the island tonight after going 1-1-1 in their pre-season all against UVic, the team that defeated them in the 2025 BCIHL Championship this past March. Forward Cage Newans, formerly of the WHL’s Victoria Royals and SJHL’s Humboldt Broncos, leads the Mariners with 3 goals and 3 assists in the team’s 3 games with veteran forwards Carson Erhardt and Ethan Jones close behind with 5 points each.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00pm, SFU students with valid ID get in for free, and as always Nick Toren will have the call on YouTube.
