GAMEDAY | Red Leafs, Thunderbirds: Round 2

Proudly Sponsored By

BURNABY, BC – A week after a thrilling 4-3 shootout win, the Red Leafs are set to host the UBC Thunderbirds for the second game in as many weeks.

After years of struggles against the Thunderbirds, SFU made their mark last Friday with the first win against the Thunderbirds in 13 years (3-1 W, Jan. 6th, 2012). The teams would head to overtime deadlocked at 3, but after extra time solved nothing it was forwards Greye Rampton and Max Potvin who would score in the shootout, while goaltender Steven Bacovsky would stop both shots faced to put the Red Leafs in the win column.

With just a week between games, both teams enter tonight’s game with points to prove: UBC to seek revenge on the scoreboard, and SFU to show that their 1-0-0 record was earned. With a combined 93 penalty minutes handed out in last week’s game, tonight’s action promises to be high intensity.

Bacovsky will make his first start for SFU after picking up the win last Friday; puck drop is scheduled for 7:00pm, tickets are available at Shop.SFUHockey.com, but if you can’t make it to Bill Copeland the game will be streamed live on YouTube.
