GAMEDAY | Hockey Headlines Red Leafs vs. Nanooks Doubleheader
FAIRBANKS, AK – Red Leafs Hockey headlines Saturday’s action in Fairbanks.
After another close weekend out East, the Red Leafs head North to Fairbanks, Alaska to take on the University of Alaska–Fairbanks Nanooks on Saturday night.
Red Leafs hockey will cap off the day at the Carlson Center, while the afternoon will see SFU Volleyball take on the Nanooks at the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium in Fairbanks at 3:00pm. The team has been on a dominant run this year, amassing a 17-3 record and winning 3 of their last 6 in straight sets.
At the Carlson Center, SFU Hockey will look to flip the script after a string of close finishes that ends with the Red Leafs on the wrong side of the scoresheet. The Red Leafs have come close in their last four games, dropping three of them by just one goal and the other by two in a shutout performance by Princeton University. While the stats may not be in SFU’s favour, recent performances have shown promise in this group with contributions coming from players through the lineup with 11 skaters earning points in this last four game stretch.
On the other side, the Nanooks have had their own struggles this year, holding a 2-8-1 record this year and a 0-4-1 record in their last 5 games. Encouraging for the Nanooks was their last game, ending in a tie and shootout win against the #5 ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats.
Puck drop is scheduled for 8:07 PT, and will be broadcast live on FloHockey.
