Here Come the Teddy Bears - SFU and Maryville Split Weekend Series

It took a little longer than anticipated, but the teddy bears eventually flew as SFU's Non-Conference Team rallied with 8:25 to go to force a 1-1 tie in the first of a weekend doubleheader against Maryville University Saints (ACHA D1, St. Louis MO). It was Walker Erickson who scored the big goal before sealing the 2-1 win with a shootout goal. Maryville's Vito Biondo had the line Saints goal, while SFU netminder Gabe Gratton made 32 saves in the win.

On Saturday, Maryville would reboud earning a 4-1 win over the Red Leafs, Walker again the lone goal scorer for SFU.

The team is on the road to face UMASS Lowell, Boston University and Colorado College to kick off the January schedule before a final home date with long-time rival Trinity Western University on January 30th.
