The third annual Canadian Blind Hockey – Western Regional Tournament takes place this weekend, from Friday, November, 23, through Sunday, November, 25, at the Bill Copeland Arena in Burnaby, BC, Canada. The event is presented by AMI – Accessible Media Inc. and brought to you by the CNIB Foundation.
The 2018 Western Regionals Blind Hockey Tournament will feature over 40 players coming from programs across North America, including the hometown Vancouver Eclipse, the Calgary Seeing Ice Dogs, the Edmonton SeeHawks, the Toronto Ice Owls, Les Hiboux de Montreal, and the Chicago Blackhawks Blind Hockey Team. This will be a strong field with 10 members of the Canadian National Blind Hockey Team competing, as well as other top prospects from across the country, which should produce four very memorable Blind Hockey games that will be fun for the entire family!
The event format is a three team round-robin taking place on Friday and Saturday, followed by the top two teams competing for the gold medal on Sunday morning. The tournament teams are named in honour of Vancouver’s hockey clubs – the Canucks, the Giants, and the Millionaires. The event is free to come watch in person or live online – for those in the region be sure to come down to Bill Copeland Arena and cheer our athletes on! For those unable to make it to Burnaby, the games will be streamed on the Canadian Blind Hockey YouTube page with commentary from Nicco Cardarelli to watch either live or at your pleasure. Game schedule and rosters are below, all times are pacific time zone.
