SFU hit the ice on December 27th after returning from the Christmas break to skate off the turkey and stuffing, but with some fresh faces added to the mix.
Kyle Bergh (F), Jakob Kranabetter (F) and Daniyal Nussipakynov (D) will skate with SFU for the first time this spring as they enter SFU as full time students mid-way through the season.
Bergh hails from Gibsons BC and played 49 games last season with the Yarmouth Mariners (MJAHL) following stints with the Creston Valley Thunder Cats and the Castlegar Rebels (KIJHL).
Kranabetter (Mission, BC) is playing in Canada for the first time since 2015, following an exceptional WSHL career highlighted by a 94 point season with the Valencia Flyers, followed by 34 points in 12 games with the El Paso Rhinos.
Nussipakynov (North Vancouver, BC) split his 17/18 season between the Grandview Steelers (PIJHL) and Sicamous Eagles (KIJHL).
All 3 recruits are expected to compete for spots in the lineup immediately, and adding Nussipakynov on defence comes as a relief following injury to Domenic Masellis.
Additional lineup announcements will be made leading up to the next game.
