This season SFU Hockey bids good bye to six senior players: Mike Ball, Jono Ceci, Jared Eng, Tyler Mah, Andrew Parent, and Nick Sandor. We asked them to review their time at Simon Fraser University – On and off the ice.
The Surrey native spent three seasons with the Clan, during which the defenceman netted himself 46 points in 64 games.
- Major: Management Information Systems and Entrepreneurship & Innovation
- Expected Graduation: June 2015
- Favourite Team Memory: Playing the University of North Dakota last January
- What’s Next? Ball is currently evaluating job opportunities with consulting firms. On the ice, he hopes to get involved with coaching and scouting at the Junior level.
Number 91 inspired the #CeCiwatch hashtag this season after taking the all-time SFU points lead, and climbing the ranks of the BCIHL record book as well.
After 85 games over four seasons, Ceci racked up 145 points, including 55 goals in the regular season, plus another 10 playoff points, with more to hopefully come next month.

- Favourite Team Memory: Playing the University of North Dakota in the 2014 Great Northwest Showcase
- What’s Next? Ceci hopes to play professionally, coach, and work.
The North Vancouver native spent two years at SFU after a stint in the NCAA. Seemingly injury proof, Eng played 46 games, netting 13 goals and 20 assists.
- Major: Health Science
- Expected Graduation: October 2015
- Favourite Team Memory: The majestic Monday walks to Burnaby Lake
- What’s Next? Eng hopes to try to play hockey in Europe or return to the classroom for more school
Your team captain is a born and raised Burnaby boy, all the way back to his days with the Burnaby Bulldogs and Winter Club. Mah can always be counted on for community events, whether it’s reading with Elementary students or signing autographs. The defenceman joined SFU in 2011, and has gone on to record 32 points in his 78 regular season Clan games.
- Major: Criminology
- What’s Next? Working towards becoming a police officer
Parent made an unexpected return to the Clan for the 2014-15 season, protecting the Clan net for his five seasons and 29 wins. Parent backstopped two shutouts this seasons, earning BCIHL Player of the Week honours twice over.
- Major: Environmental Geography
- Expected Graduation: June 2015
- Favourite Team Memory: Currently it’s playing against NCAA Div 1 teams, but Parent would like it to be winning the 2015 BCIHL Championships
- What’s Next? Travel and finding a job with his awesome degree!
Number 89 played three seasons with SFU, resulting in a great pairing with Jono Ceci. In 68 regular season games, the North Vancouver native netted 103 points.
- Major: Double Business Major in Marketing and International Business
- Expected Graduation: June 2015
- Favourite Team Memory: Playing the University of North Dakota in the GNS Showcase
- What’s Next? Sandor hopes to start work, ideally for an NHL team or hockey company
Special mention goes out to Trevor Milner, who played for SFU Hockey for three seasons before concussion symptoms kept from finishing his senior season. Despite being unable to contribute on the ice, Milner continued to be an active part SFU Hockey, organizing his third JDRF night for the team.
