Rookie Tyler Basham was the hero on Saturday as SFU knocked off the Vikes by a score of 6-3. Basham had 2 goals and an assist, while netminder Andrew Parent had another strong outing with 17 saves. For the Clan it was a bit of redemption after falling 8-3 in their last game against UVIC.
With UVIC defeating TWU a day earlier, the SFU win allowed the Clan to claim 2nd place in the BCIHL standings and pull to within 3 points of TWU.
SFU Captain Tyler Mah also had 2 points and looked solid coming off an injury which kept him out of the lineup since the Clan’s exhibition games against Bowling Green and University of Miami.
The Clan now look ahead to 2 critical games against rival Selkirk College, as they travel the long road to Castlegar on November 7th and 8th. With a TWU bi-week, two wins on the road would give SFU a lead in the BCIHL standings.
