The SFU Men’s Hockey Team are heading into the playoffs in first place after well-earned victory on the last game of the regular season.
“I thought the guys played really well, I thought we earned the game on Saturday night, and it was a good bounceback game from Friday night — a good way to lead into the playoffs and we’ll get right back at it,” said assistant coach Tom Spencer.
SFU will begin the playoffs with a series against the University of Victoria Vikes. The series will begin in Victoria Friday, before returning home on Saturday to close out the series.
“I expect a really tough hockey game on Friday night, and I expect [UVic] to be exactly what we’re anticipating — very tough to play against. Their rink is a tough place to play, and we’ll be prepared for that,” Spencer explained. ‘We know what they can do and we want to be prepared for that.
“The key to being successful in the playoffs is [. . .] just staying within ourselves, we know who we are as an identity, and we want to play our game.”
Forward Scott Patterson is day-to-day, and is questionable for this weekend.
