TOP DEFENCEMAN – Mathew Berry-Lamontagna, Simon Fraser University
The former WHL and BCHL blueliner elevated his game once again in his second BCIHL season, dominating at both ends of the ice. Offensively, the 22-year old tied for the league lead in goals by a defenceman (8) and finished second in points at the position with 21. He also logged big minutes on an SFU blueline that finished the regular season second in goals allowed (81). The highlight of the season for Berry-Lamontanga came on Feb. 5th when he scored a league-high six points in a single game in SFU’s road win over TWU.
MOST SPORTSMANLIKE PLAYER – Jono Ceci, University
The fifth-year SFU captain marked his final BCIHL season by breaking the league’s all-time scoring record with his 158th point in November and continued to rack up the offensive numbers over the remainder of the year. The 25-year old closed out the season with 30 points to sit fourth in BCIHL scoring, including a league-best 22 assists. He also picked up just 10 penalty minutes in 22 games played. This is the second time that Ceci has been the recipient of this award, having won it for the first time at the conclusion of the 2013/14 season.
