The BCIHL has announced the 2021 AGM taking place on May 18 & 19th via video conference.
Key topics for this year’s AGM include the 2021/22 season schedule, league expansion, potential exhibition games involving USPORT and NCAA opponents, and a heavy focus on promoting the league coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
BCIHL teams are in preparations for a return to hockey, working with their local facilities as well as BC Hockey to assess the safest possible return to the ice. No games are scheduled at this time, while teams are exploring possibilities of spring/summer on-ice workouts.
While the recent departure of the TWU Spartans to USPORT as well as the cancelation of the Selkirk College hockey program has left the BCIHL with only 3 active teams, the league is exploring a number of scenarios for the 2021/22 season that will provide the same level of student-athlete experience while fostering new competitive opportunities.
The BCIHL Expansion Committee has aided in the proposal for a UBCO Heat sport-club program, and any potential student-athletes who are interested are encouraged to visit https://www.facebook.com/UBCO-Hockey-Interest-Page-101128092115949 or email info@bcihl.ca
The committee is also exploring additional expansion opportunities with local post-secondary institutions and further updates will be provided online at www.bcihl.ca
