The Simon Fraser University Men’s Hockey Club is pleased to announce a commitment from defenceman Jake Keremidschieff to join the team for the 2019/20 BCIHL season.
Keremidschieff grew up in Surrey, BC and played one season split between the Cowichan Valley Capitals (BCHL) and Lloydminster Bobcats (AJHL) before joining the Richmond Sockeyes (PJHL) for two highly productive seasons on the blueline highlighted by winning the Cyclone Taylor Cup in 2018. The lefthanded defenceman former teammates Arjun Badh, Jordan Funk and Mitch Newsome in the SFU lineup.
The offensive defenceman was also named to the PJHL All-Star team in 2019, campaign that would see the 5’9″ blueliner put up 46 points and 50 PIMs in 41 games. Keremidschieff would finish his PJHL career with 82 points in 73 games, and will now look ahead to the next chapter with SFU as he plans to study either Biomedical Physiology or Business Administration.
“We’re looking for Jake to bring some valuable experience from that 2017/18 season in winning a championship. We have high expectations for this group and having players that know what it takes to win is important to our culture,” says SFU Head Coach Mark Coletta.
