BURNABY, BC — SFU Hockey is pleased to announce forward Logan Bromhead as the first member of the 2020/21 recruiting class.
Bromhead, who hails from Coquitlam, plays for the Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, where he is currently in the midst of the first round of the AJHL playoffs.
“I’m very excited about my future at SFU,” says the 5’9”, 160 lb forward. “I would describe myself as a skilled, fast, and hard-working player who likes to make plays and help the team wherever they need me.
“My goal for the upcoming season is to help SFU win a championship.”
With 16 goals, 26 assists, and 42 points in 47 games with Olds, he shares the team lead in points scored. Before joining the Grizzlys for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, he scored three goals in five games with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.
“He is a fast, chippy forward,” explains head coach Mark Coletta. “He’s going to fit in our top nine. I like to have guys that can get up and down the ice. And he’s got a little grit to him as well.”
In three AJHL seasons, split with the Grizzlys, Oil Barons, and Lloydminster Bobcats, he has put up 108 career points.
Prior to playing Junior A hockey, he spent two seasons with the Vancouver NE Chiefs of BC Major Midget Hockey League, where he put up 65 regular season points in 80 games played.
Bromhead intends to study business at SFU.
“Those are the kinds of guys that we need to bring into the program — guys that want to be part of SFU Hockey, good academic grades, and obviously he can put the puck in the net,” says Coletta.
Bromhead will complement a strong returning class of SFU forwards for the 2020/21 BCIHL season.
Additional recruit announcements are to follow in the coming weeks.
