Rapid Fire Questions with Arjan Cheema
Arjan Cheema is a first-year business student at SFU. The smooth-skating defenseman was recruited after 3 strong seasons in the PIJHL, averaging nearly a point per game in his final year with the Aldergrove Kodiaks.
Q: Can you describe yourself as a player?
A: I like to see myself as a puck moving defenseman that makes a good first pass and likes to get up in the offensive zone.
Q: Where did you play before joining the program?
A: I played Junior for Aldergrove in the PIJHL.
Q: What has it been like playing for SFU?
A: I think its a great opportunity to continue my education and play for a high level hockey team.
Q: What has your experience been like in the community?
A: Amazing. SFU provides me with a lot of chances to give back to the community.
Q: When did you decide to commit to the SFU program?
A: Just over the summer Coach Mark and I talked about it and he proposed the idea of playing here. I felt it would be a great fit for me and a great way to continue my education and play for a good hockey team.
Q: Why did you choose to play for SFU?
A: Just cause of the high reputation of the school and the quality of the hockey and the program that is here.
Q: Where do you want to go from here?
A: I just want to get a good degree that hopefully leads to a great job.
Q: Why do you play hockey?
A: Just because I love the game. I feel like it’s apart of me and something I’ve been doing since I was five years old. I’m so accustomed to it and it really comes naturally to me.
