BURNABY – After what will be a month and a half off, SFU returns to the ice to put their 6 game winning streak on the line against the 0-4-0 UVic Vikes.
The past month and a half has been a challenge for the BCIHL’s 4 member clubs, with travel and COVID concerns decimating plans for eleven games between the end of November and the beginning of January. SFU only suffered the loss of a single exhibition game against the cross-town rival UBC Thunderbirds, with plans to re-schedule in the coming months.
SFU’s 6-0-0 record is impressive enough as is, defeating the Okanagan Lakers twice, the UVic Vikes once, and the VIU Mariners three times, all while never dressing more than 15 skaters. SFU’s only regular-season game against the Vikes resulted in a 7-1 victory in Victoria.
When the team returns this Friday it will look a bit different, with the anticipated returns of captain Mitch Ledyard and forward Jacob Lacasse from injury, and the addition of Nick Wicks (Clarkson; NCAA), Donat Matthys (TWU; USports), and Max Lightfoot (St. Catharines, GOJHL).
Join us on Friday and Saturday for the return of BCIHL action in Burnaby; tickets are FREE for SFU Students (with valid SFU ID), $12 for General Admission, and $8 for youth and seniors (links below). If you can’t make it, these games will be streamed LIVE on YouTube!
