Equipment Manager
This role is a part-time paid position working directly with the hockey club as an Equipment Manager. Prior experience is preferred but not required. This role has some flexibility with hours, but will involve practices, home and away games. The duration is from late August until the end of the season in March. Basic first aid training is preferred, and the team will facilitate the completion of the Hockey Canada Safety Person course prior to the season. SFU practices and games can be fast-paced, intense and emotional – you will need to be able to think on your feet, react to unexpected situations, and excel in a work environment such as this. You will report to the Director of Hockey Operations and be responsible for the following areas:
– Facilitate the purchase of new team equipment & clothing
– Keep all hockey-related equipment for the players and coaching staff in good working condition
– Help coaching and medical staff maintain a professional and clean working environment at the rink
– Work with players to ensure the equipment they are using meets their needs and gives them the best opportunity to succeed

Events Coordinator
This role is a part-time paid position for individuals working in the event management business. The focus will be primarily home games, as SFU hosts 12 unique and exciting home games each season. The Events Manager organises volunteers, promotional materials, fan contests and activities.
The successful candidate should have the following attributes:
– very strong communication skills
– ability to work in a fast-paced environment and “think on their feet”
– understand the planning and execution that goes into a successful event
– think creatively and be passionate about creating a fun and exciting atmosphere for sports fans of all ages
Sales Coordinator
This is a part-time, paid position. This role is for an individual with a desire to work in sales in a sports-related setting. You will be a key member within our organisation, seeking new sales opportunities and negotiating partnerships with local businesses and organisations. You will be selling sponsorship & advertising packages based out of the 2,000 seat Bill Copeland Sports Centre in Burnaby. You will also be coordinating the sale of ticket packages for the upcoming SFU Hockey season. You should understand the core advertising opportunities that exist within a competitive hockey program and be able to think creatively about how companies would be interested in partnering with us.

– experience or be a student in a sales-related field
– be interested in a career in sports
Marketing Coordinator
This is a part-time, paid position. This role is best-suited for an individual with a desire to work in marketing in a sports-related setting. Part-time Marketing Coordinators report to the Director of Marketing, and will carry out tasks such as putting up posters, delivering tickets, setting up and running promotional events and fundraisers, and running contests/giveaways for the team. The successful candidate will work mainly on SFU Burnaby Campus, but may also be required to travel to other SFU Campuses and within the City of Burnaby. The SFU Men’s Hockey team aims to continue its growth in attendance at home games at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre, a 2,000 seat facility in Burnaby.

Digital Content Producer
This is a part-time, paid position. This role is for a video producer with a background in film and/or editing. SFU Hockey is working closely with the BCIHL to build a team of digital content producers that can output high quality promotional and highlight videos. We are seeking creative individuals with experience editing spots-related content. If you are excited by working with great content to produce exciting and powerful videos, we want to hear from you.
The successful candidate should:
– have experience with film and/or editing
– have the flexibility and resources to produce videos in a timely manner
– for filming, be comfortable working in a fast-paced and high intensity environment
– be interested in a career in sports
Athletic Therapist
This is a part-time, paid position. SFU Hockey has opportunities for athletic therapists to work during our home games at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre on Friday/Saturday nights throughout the 2017/18 BCIHL season. We are open to student therapists or graduates, but some experience with competitive hockey is desired as the therapist will work on our bench and work closely with our players during games. Volunteer Video Coach
This role is for an individual interested in coaching, statistics, and/or skill development. The successful candidate should have some experience coaching but may be working at any level from minor hockey to junior/college and wish to gain experience with video coaching. The volunteer video coach is asked to attend every SFU home game at Copeland Arena and operate a laptop (provided) with video coaching software, tagging goals/turnovers/powerplays/penalties and other statistics during the play. Between periods the video coach will help the SFU coaching staff and players as needed with video reviews. This is a volunteer position only.
The successful candidate should:

– have coaching experience and have attended at least one Hockey Canada Coaching Clinic
