Selkirk College forward Alex Milligan has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League’s Player of the Week for the week ending November 30th.
Milligan helped lead the Saints to a pair of come-from-behind victories over the University of Victoria this weekend, both in dramatic fashion.
On Saturday, the rookie winger keyed a comeback from down 4-1 in the second period, assisting on a second period marker by Stefan Gonzales before scoring himself to draw Selkirk within a goal. After the hosts tied the game in the third and overtime solved nothing, Milligan took centre stage once again in firing home the shootout winner past Vikes netminder Scott Legault.
The 21-year old made a crucial play on Sunday as well, setting up Darnell Dyck for a game-tying goal with Selkirk trailing 2-1 in the final minute of regulation. Selkirk would go on to win in overtime.
Milligan now sits third in points on the second place Saints with 11, and is fifth overall in BCIHL rookie scoring.
Runners up for this week’s award include Simon Fraser University forward Adam Callegari, Trinity Western University forward PJ Buys and University of Victoria forward Cole Conway.
