Behind the Cage: Get to know 4th year senior Brendan Lamont
Name: Brendan Lamont
Junior Team: Coquitlam Express
Major: Business Administration
Year: 4th
1. Why did you choose to attend school and play in the BCIHL?
I just liked the opportunity to stay home, get my education at a really good school and join a really competitive hockey league.
2. Who have been the important influences in your junior and collegiate hockey career? Who has helped you get to where you are today?
Probably my parents have had the biggest influence on me. Obviously some coaches including Coach Mark have been a big influence as well. My old coaches in Junior as well Luke Pierce, Barry Wolfe, Fred Arvidsson, all those guys have really helped me along the way.
3. What are your personal on-ice goals for the upcoming season?
I want to do whatever it takes to let the team win. Usually that’s a scoring role for me so I’d like to put up some more points and eventually be in the top five on the team in scoring at least.
4. What are your team goals this season? What are the positive signs so far this season that make you feel you can reach them?
Finish second and win a Championship. We have a really talented group, a lot of young guys and a lot of old guys so it’s a good mix here and I think we’re coming together as a team so it should be good.
5. How would you describe your game to someone who hasn’t seen you play? What are you strengths as a player?
I play a hard-nosed, fast style of hockey. I like to be a playmaker who can chip in on the offensive end but also be a good two-way player.
6. What are your education goals and future career path?
A future in hockey would be great but right now I’m just working towards my marketing degree and hopefully I can get into some marketing jobs in advertising or something like that.
